6th International Exhaust Gas and Particulate Emissions Forum
More than 300 participants from 16 different countries met for the 6th International Exhaust Gas and Particulate Emissions Forum at the Ludwigsburger Forum, close to the Schlosspark. Attendees from North America, Europe, Japan and Thailand participated, underlining the international character of the event.
Lectures were presented by CARB, Conti, Cummins, Daimler, Deutz, Emitec, FEV, Honda, IAV, MAN, National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Renault, Umicore, VW, Uni Bochum, TU Dresden and the Paul Scheerer Institute.
The Forum has taken place every 2 years since 2000. Whilst initially the main topic was particulate emissions, from 2004 the scope was extended to include gaseous emissions. In addition to emission reduction, the necessary measuring techniques and simulation have always been central to the meetings.
The effect of the emission legislation on OEM’s was one topic. The very exciting question: “How much emission legislation is meaningful?” was discussed in two lectures. CARB informed the attendees on the progress of legislation in USA and was followed by many interesting lectures on new emission measurement techniques in order to comply with the legislation. Equally interesting were the presentations concerning the measurement techniques developed for new emission reduction systems and after-treatment.
Most lectures were about particle counting. Legislation has forced a new measuring technique, which has been adopted within all OEM's and suppliers. The lectures included not only the use of particle counting on chassis dynamometers for diesel engine vehicles, but also the use of this measuring technique on engine test beds for GDI development.
We would like to thank you for the extremely interesting contributions and lively discussion which made the 6th International Exhaust Gas and Particulate Emissions Forum successful and we look forward to greeting you at the 7th International Exhaust Gas and Particulate Emissions Forum in 2012. The event location and date will be advised shortly.
